Aston Villa host Chelsea in their final match of the 2020-21 season in the Premier League. The hosts would not have much of a difference if they win, lose or tie but the visitors need a win to cement their 3rd place and win the race for the top 4.
The top four spots for Champions League are still on and the Blues need to finish off the season in style with an away win. If they lose, they might be finishing 5th in the worst case and might be playing in the Europa League next season.
It has been a rollercoaster ride for Thomas Tuchel as he successfully brought the club back to the European qualification. However, it won’t be easy to get past the hosts who are coming with an away win to Tottenham Hotspur.
Aston Villa vs Chelsea : Preview
As the Premier League season 2020-21 comes to an end, much of the attention shifts towards the race for European competition spots. Thomas Tuchel has been successful in turning around the season after taking charge from ex-boss Frank Lampard.
Chelsea has been successful in teaching two finals this season – FA Cup and Champions League. However, they lost in the FA Cup final and now, they have to secure their much deserved third place. They are looking to win four away games in a row against the hosts.
But, it won’t be easy against Dean Smith’s Villa as they are turning better by winning more matches as compared to last season. Earlier at Stamford Bridge, the Lions were successful in drawing the Blues 1-1. Out of 156 matches played between the two teams, Chelsea won 64 of them, Aston Villa was successful 57 times, and the rest 35 matches ended as draws.
