The Premier League is in the corner and the Blues are still very much active in the summer transfer market. Chelsea already signed eight new players in this transfer window and just two of them are over the age limit of 22. So, five young players joined the Blues this summer. This creates problems for the existing Chelsea players. One such player is Conor Gallagher, who might end up leaving Chelsea this summer. Lots of speculations going on around Gallagher’s future at Stamford Bridge since the transfer market is open and looks like the English international may leave the club.
Last month Chelsea appointed former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as the Blues’ new head coach. So, after joining the Blues, Maresca signed eight more players according to his needs. His recent enforcement was a new goalkeeper for Chelsea, Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal. Although the new manager is trying to build the Chelsea squad according to his needs, the Chelsea board are following their transfer strategy same as last season. Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership already spent more than 1B since the takeover in 2022. 35 signings are under the age limit of 22 in the last two years. This transfer window is no different, as the club mainly focuses on bringing young talents rather than investing on experienced players. However, some Chelsea players are finding their position unstable at Stamford Bridge under the new manager. Chelsea star midfielder and English international Conor Gallagher could leave Chelsea this summer.
The future of Conor Gallagher in Chelsea
Conor Gallagher played a crucial part for the Chelsea team last season under former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino. The 24-year-old made 50 appearances for the Blues last season across all competitions and needed seven goals. Last season arguably the best season for Conor Gallagher, earned him a position in the England squad for the Euro 2024. Under the former manager Mauricio Pochettino, Conor Gallagher is the first-choice player for the midfield zone.
But the scene can change under the new manager Enzo Maresca. Chelsea already signed a new midfielder this summer, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City. Kiernan already had played under the current Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca during his time at Leicester City. Under Enzo Maresca Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall might be the main man for the center-midfielder position in Chelsea and this will create problems for Conor Gallagher. So, a move to a new club will be perfect for Conor Gallagher. Chelsea recently linked with former Juventus midfielder 29-year-old Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot left Juventus this summer and is available for free now.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid and Premier League side Tottenham are the two main clubs that are interested in signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. Aston Villa are also linked with the English international as the club wants to sign a new midfielder after the departure of Douglas Luiz to Juventus last month. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Atletico Madrid are very close to getting him. Chelsea are demanding a price money of 40M for Conor Gallagher. However, no news still has not come from Gallagher’s end. Gallagher is now on holiday, so still no final news from the player himself. Once Gallagher returns from holiday, his future will be decided.

The Blues are on the verge of signing another young defender Aaron Anselmino from Argentinian side Boca Juniors. This will be the nine signings for the Blues under Enzo Maresca era.
