Pacer Avesh Khan was instrumental in India’s win over South Africa in the 4th T20I at Rajkot.
After returning figures of 0/35, 0/17 and again 0/35, Avesh was not dropped by the team.
India decided to keep an unchanged XI for all the four matches in the series and the dividends did pay off in the end.
Avesh returned excellent figures of 4/18 that helped India secure an 82-run win over the Proteas.
The pacer said that he faced extreme pressure going into the fourth game after he returned wicketless in the three T20Is.
Avesh also gave credit to head coach Rahul Dravid who allowed him to play longer in the series.
He also said that a player cannot be judged on the basis of just one or two games.
Dinesh Karthik also called the dressing room environment as calm, secure and fuzzy.
Avesh decided to speak on similar lines to Karthik.
He also said that he consulted Ishan Kishan as to how the wicket was playing out.
After he received good advice from Kishan, Avesh decided to bowl hard lengths along with the occasional bouncer that made it difficult for South Africa to play.
Avesh also added that the wickets was not very easy to play on but India’s batters did well.
He finished off by saying that they want to pick up early wickets in the Powerplay overs.
