Axel Disasi Looks to Leave Chelsea

Axel Disasi is looking to leave Chelsea after just over a year after his £39m move from Monaco. Struggling under Enzo Maresca, the French defender is linked with a move away, with Juventus interested. Chelsea’s defensive woes continue with injuries to key players like Wesley Fofana and Benoît Badiashile, adding to Maresca’s troubles.

Yet, the manager has equally been fingered in the manner in which he has handled Disasi. Disasi’s exit looks increasingly likely as Chelsea offloads surplus players. Juventus needs defensive reinforcements, but no deal is settled yet. The coming days could be decisive.

Chelsea is revamping its squad, aiming to recover from an inconsistent season. Sitting fourth in the Premier League, the Blues need a strong second half to challenge for the title. A move to either Juventus or another top European club might catapult Disasi back to the limelight. After a tough stay in Stamford Bridge, he may just require the fresh start to realize his full potential.

Axel Disasi Doesn’t Fit into Chelsea’s System

Axel Disasi was Chelsea’s £39 million summer signing from AS Monaco. A strong addition to an already solid defense, the French defender brought physicality, composure, and versatility—key assets for the Blues’ backline. But in the 2024-25 season, Disasi struggled under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. Under-utilized, shifted awkwardly in position, and lacking the manager’s trust, a move away from Stamford Bridge seemed imminent.

Axel Disasi is a very good defender but one hardly requires to shout about it; his plus points go like aerial ability, tackling, and defensive positioning that makes him a good option for the right system. Unfortunately, Chelsea’s current tactical scheme under Maresca does not go well with his skill set. Axel Disasi would thrive in a deeper defensive block with less focus on ball progression. However, Chelsea’s setup demands more from their defenders in possession and positioning, putting him in an awkward spot.

And while reports suggest he could move as soon as January, a transfer might simply be best for both parties. For Chelsea, he frees space for defenders who fit perfectly into Maresca’s vision, while Disasi would find a club that would take into account and use his strengths more appropriately.

Chelsea Looking to Offload Players Amid Squad Overhaul

This transfer window will be busy for Chelsea, but this time it’s about selling, not buying. Many stars are set to leave as the bloated squad strains finances, and Enzo Maresca wants a leaner team to fit his style. Despite heavy spending by new owners, Chelsea must now balance the books and build a more cohesive squad. Big names linked to exits include Disasi, Chukwuemeka, Chilwell, Casadei, and Veiga.

Others fringe players may also join from the exodus if Chelsea get a good offer. Conor Gallagher is still not sure of his future, even if he is a favorite in the squad. A brief injury-prone spell could leave Trevoh Chalobah moving on if Chelsea would receive a good bid.

Chelsea aims to offload players but remains open to bargain signings. The focus is on balanced squad building, meeting financial responsibilities, and giving Maresca a tactical edge. This would develop the side into a more competitive and cohesive unit throughout the remaining parts of the season and into seasons yet to come, selling or loaning out most of their surplus players.
