Match Preview

Tomorrow, it will be a battle between Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi for the third match of the Asia Cup. Afghanistan is in a stronger position because it successfully defeated Sri Lanka on Saturday. They will now look to keep up their winning momentum against the Bangla Tigers.

Bangladesh has been runners-up in the last two editions of the Asia Cup. Shakib doesn’t have a great captaincy record when it comes to T20Is as he has a very small win percentage as a skipper. When Shakib ended his captaincy duties in 2019 for Bangladesh, Afghanistan was their opponent. Now, when Shakib has once again taken charge of Bangladesh as skipper, the same opposition stands in front of him and his team.

So, tomorrow Bangladesh would be hoping to have a better start against Afghanistan and would be hungry for a maiden title to their name as well.

Top Picks for BAN vs AFG Dream11 Match:

Bangladesh

Afif Hossain

Hossain is in very good form for Bangladesh which is why he is also the vice-captain of the team. Since last year, Hossain has amassed 585 runs from his 35 T20Is and an average of 21.66 and a strike rate of 117.46. If we take a look at this year, then Hossain has an average of 32.5, which is his highest in the year since his debut for Bangladesh. Against Zimbabwe recently, Hossain made 85 not out and also received the player of the match award.

Shakib Al Hasan

Probably one of the most experienced cricketers for Bangladesh, Shakib brings with him a vast amount of experience. He is the skipper and a lot will be riding on his shoulders tomorrow. For his bowling, Shakib has picked up 25 wickets in 18 matches and has an average of 16.88. This is also the first time for Shakib to pick over 20 wickets in a year since his debut for Bangladesh in 2006. Also with the bat, Shakib has made another first record for himself which is scoring over 300 runs since his debut. That’s why Shakib will try to better his performance with the T20 World Cup in mind.

Anamul Haque

Haque has had an average form this year. Although he has 2 half-centuries out of three against Zimbabwe this year, Haque has not been able to transform well into the T20 circuit. For his 19 T20Is, Haque has scored 440 runs and has an average of 25.88 and strike rate of 115.48. He has played only 6 T20Is this year and had featured for Bangladesh in the format back in 2015.

Afghanistan

Hazratullah Zazai

Zazai has been in prime form for Afghanistan and we all saw his heroics with the bat in the opening game against Sri Lanka. In this year, Zazai has scored 242 runs in 9 T20Is and has an average of 34.57 and a strike rate of 134.44. However, he scored only a single fifty this year and that too against Bangladesh. So, tomorrow, Afghanistan would be hoping for a similar performance from him.

Mohammad Nabi

Nabi found 2 wickets in the first game against Sri Lanka and gave away 14 runs in his four overs. These are also his best bowling figures since 2018. Also, Nabi is batting in the lower middle-order due to the presence of other in-form players at the top. Hence, he may not even get a chance to bat tomorrow. Afghanistan will want another stunning performance from Nabi.

Rashid Khan

Khan has been doing splendidly for Afghanistan this year. But, somehow, he has not been getting wickets recently. In a total of 11 matches, Rashid has been wicketless in 4 of them. His economy rate is 6 which is excellent. To add to that, he has also not been able to pick up more than two wickets this year. But, at Sharjah, Rashid will be able to get a lot of support from the pitch so his performance might improve against Bangladesh. Rashid has been a successful bowler at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In his five matches, Rashid has picked up 10 wickets at an average of 10.1, an economy of 5.5 and a good strike rate of 11.

Players to avoid for BAN vs AFG Dream11 Match:

Bangladesh

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin has played very few matches for Bangladesh this year and will have to step up his game in order to retain his place.

Afghanistan

Azmatullah Omarzai

He has made his debut this year and that too against Bangladesh in March. He has played two T20I matches where he has 5 wickets to his name. He was also awarded the Player of the Match in only the second T20I. But now, Omarzai has not been consistent with his form and in the last 9 matches has pcied up only a single wicket.
