BARCELONA AND PAU TORRES TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to reports, Barcelona will move for the 25-year-old if they miss out on Jules Kounde. The center-back is a backup option. The report also suggests that an offer of between €50m (£42.6m) and €60m (£51.1m) will be required to sign him. Villarreal have set the fee high just to fend off the interest of the Catalan giants.

Pau Torres has been of interest since he has been part of the youth academy of Villarreal. However, for a number of reasons, the move has never materialized. Torres has already rejected a move to Tottenham last summer. It was due to their lack of Champions League football. However, he is expected to leave the club and play in a new team.

CHELSEA ARE LEADING THE RACE FOR JULES KOUNDE

The Catalan giants are still in the battle for Jules Kounde. However, many reports are now claiming Kounde is closer to joining Chelsea. The Premier League side have reportedly submitted an offer of £55m for the France international. However, the player himself remains in talks with both sides. The reports also adds that the French center-back is open to moving to both clubs.

Although, Chelsea have intensified their talks for the center-back. They also have lost the race on a number of targets. Nathan Ake is set to stay at Manchester City despite agreeing personal terms with the Blues. Matthijs De Ligt also rejected the Blues’ approach and signed for Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants new center-backs after losing Andreas Christensen and Rudiger on free transfers.

Pau Torres was linked with the likes of Manchester United. However, the move has never materialized. After strengthening their attack with the signings of Raphinha and Robert Lewandoski, the club will now focus on defensive targets.
