Barcelona are likely going to take legal against the contract leaks of Lionel Messi in the media. However, they will study the case before taking any action.
The leaks go back to the days of former president Maria Bartomeu. The fans consider him the worst president of the club.
BARCELONA AND LIONEL MESSI CONTRACT LEAKS FULL STORY
According to the statement on the official site, Barcelona are likely going to take legal action against El Mundo. The newspaper has published details of the contract extension of Lionel Messi. It also claims that if the contract was accepted Lionel Messi would have a release clause of €10,000. The report also claims that the forward demanded private boxes in the stadium for his family and Luiz Suarez’s family.
However, the most important detail in the leaks is Lionel Messi has also demanded his deferred wages. He has also demanded a commission for his brother Rodrigo for his work as an agent. However, the demands were rejected. Hence, the new president Laporta could also not convince him to stay. The Barcelona legend ended up leaving the club and joined PSG on a free transfer.
THE LA LIGA SIDE ARE CONSIDERING A LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THE NEWS COMPANY
It looks like Barcelona are going to take legal against the leaks. They have said on their official website,
“In relation to the information published in El Mundo under the title ‘Barca Leaks, the club’s secret files’, Barcelona expresses indignation at the intentional leaking of information that is part of a legal process. The club regrets that the media in question boasts of having ‘access to a huge number of documents and emails that are part of the Barcagate investigation’ when this information is yet to be shared.
They have also added,
“In any case, the article in question makes public documents that have nothing to do with the ongoing case and their use is an affront to the reputation and confidentiality of the club. For that reason, and with the aim of protecting Barcelona’s rights, the club’s legal department are studying the legal measures that need to be taken.”
All these things happened during the reign of Josep Bartomeu as the president of Barcelona. Many have also accused him of disrespecting the club’s legends. While many are also accusing him of doing corruption within the club and putting the club in huge debt.
