Barcelona Bound: Chelsea’s Defender Dream Dashed in Latest Transfer Saga!

Chelsea Football Club are in search for a deal for one Barcelona defender who rejected them a couple of years ago. The Blues are currently suffering in the Premier League and have problems in all departments.

They have a bunch of talented stars but no one is able to deliver consistently. Although, they are in the final of Carabao Cup, there good works have been coming in patches throughout the season. It was reported that Chelsea are in a hunt for Napoli man Victor Osimhen. Earlier this week, he scored in Napoli’s Champions League draw against Barcelona. Claims in the UK have claimed Chelsea watched the striker and Jules Koundé live in action.

Chelsea already had a failed deal with Barcelona man in the past

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relays this claim and gives their own take on the 25-year-old Jules Kounde. Chelsea wanted to sign the centre-back but he snubbed them to join the La Liga side in 2022, ‘frustrating all attempts’ made by the Blues to secure his services.

The outlet explains that the Frenchman reached a pre-agreement with West Londoners, who offered a better salary than the Catalaonyans. Despite this, he tied his knots with Camp Nou eventually. Chelsea will be bidding farewell to Thiago Silva, who’s contract will be expiring in the summer of 2024.

It is claimed Chelsea want Koundé, who is also on the agenda of Arsenal and Newcastle United as well. However, the Catalan newspaper states he’s ‘not contemplating leaving’ Barcelona. The defender has registered two goal and three assists for Xavi’s side so far this season and is a vital part in their squad. Chelsea will need to look for alternatives as well in case Kounde decides not to change his stance on the transfer.
