According to Mundo Deportivo, Mika Marmol, the 21-year-old Barcelona defender is set to join Girona permanently. The youth defender had several options on the table. Las Palmas and Andorra wanted to sign the player this season. However, the player preferred to remain in the Spanish top tier.

There were speculations about the transfer fee for the player but, Barcelona let Marmol go for free. In return, they will get to keep 50% of the player’s future sales. The 21-year-old will sign a four-year contract with Girona. The deal was successful because the manager for Girona, Michel was pushing for his move. Michel’s insistence to sign the player pushed the club to sign the player this season.

Marimol will be the 12th player departing Camp Nou

Barcelona are fully focusing on player offloading after buying five new summer signings this season. Barcelona just have one more signing of Marcos Alonso to do in the season. Moreover, they have also re-signed Ousmane Dembele. This means they need to trim the wage bill to generate revenue to buy future players and register them. Barcelona have offloaded 11 players already in the summer. Phillipe Coutinho, Trincao, Riqui Puig, Oscar Minguenza, Dani Alves, Nico Gonzalez have all departed Camp Nou this season.

A few more departures can happen as well before the last date of the transfer window. Most notably, Chelsea wants to sign Aubameyang from Barcelona this season. Moreover, they also want to sign Frenkie De Jong this season. It is worth noting that previous suitors, Manchester United have withdrawn their bid for the Dutch midfielder. If the player wants a move away from Camp Nou, the offer from Chelsea still stands. However, it is unlikely that De Jong will move away from Barcelona at the moment considering that they still owe him a whooping 17 million euros in deferred wages.
