Barcelona are on the market for a new right-back this summer. There are several options available for the Spanish club in the department. Their main target for the position is Villareal’s Juan Foyth. Barcelona is stepping up their act to sign the former Tottenham player. Sergino Dest has fallen out of favor in the eyes of manager Xavi. Now, Barcelona are looking to sign a proper right back to further bolster their team

Julian Foyth joined Villareal from Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 initially on a loan deal. He even won the UEFA Europa League with Villareal in the 2020 season. Foyth signed on a permanent deal with Villareal in June 2021 for a five-year deal for a fee of €15 million. Foyth is not the flashiest name in the leagues. However, he is a solid and consistent option for the right-back position. Foyth is not the only option for the right-back for Barcelona. The Catalan club is also interested in Borrusia Dortmund’s Thomas Meunier. Moreover, they are also interested in Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot as well.

As things stand, Froyth and Meunier are the viable options for the club. Now, according to Gerard Romero Froyth’s agent and Barcelona held a meeting earlier last week. Now, it seems that the Catalans are looking to sign Froyth this season. However, the player has a contract at Villarreal till 2026. It seems that the only barrier to the deal is the transfer fee of Froyth. When in comparison, Barcelona can get Meunier for just about €10 million.

Foyth’s agent spotted at Barcelona

Claudio Curti, Juan Foyth’s agent was spotted in Barcelona last Tuesday. Mundo Deportivo has reported that Curti has had a meeting with Barcelona’s sporting director Mateu Alemany. The Blaugrana were keen to sign Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta but failed to do so. Since then, Azpilicueta has signed a contract extension with Chelsea to remain at Stamford Bridge for two more years.
