Barcelona lead the race to sign Manchester City midfelder İlkay Gündoğan in the summer, as final decision expected soon.
The German once again proved himself that he one of top midfielder in the world when Manchester City thrashed Real Madrid at Etihad last night. Guardiola’s side will travel to Istanbul to face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final.
Gündoğan put in a terrific performance which shows Barcelona fans what he can bring to Camp Nou next season. Blaugrana are favourites to sign in the summer transfer window.
According to Sport, Barcelona lead the race to sign İlkay Gündoğan from Manchester City in the summer. The discussions are set to enter the final stretch with a decision expected soon.
Gündoğan’s current contract expires at the end of this season. City are keen to keep him as manager Pep Guardiola insisted on several occasions that he wants to keep with the German. He said:-
“The club knows what I think. I’d like to work with Gundo in the future. The club is involved and ofcourse knows my opinion. They are above me, we take the decision together, good and bad.”
However, Arsenal are also targetting the midfielder as Arteta is keen on bringing him in as the Duo worked together at City. But Gunners are also monitoring other targets in the summer.
Gündoğan is seen as main target for Barcelona in the summer. It is claimed that the La Liga Champions the offered the 32-year-old a three-year contract which gives them a edge in the race.
The Negotiations are understood to be in the last phase and the decision from Gündoğan expected soon.
