Barcelona prepared to offload Luuk de Jong in January

Barcelona are reported already preparing to offload on-loan striker Luuk de Jong in the January transfer window.

Luuk de Jong only joined Baecaelojna on the transfer deadline day in the summer from Sevilla. However, de Jong has failed to take his canes in the Barcelona starting lineup and has been nothing short of a disappointment. He has only scored once in his nine appearances for Barcelona so far.

Barcelona do have the option to make the deal permanent next summer. But have no intention in taking up that option. And Luuk de Jong has no future at the club beyond the January transfer window.

Xavi has no plans to keep de Jong at Barcelona

de Jong was signed by Ronald Koeman in an attempt to replace the outgoing Antoine Griezmann. But with Ronald Koeman gone, Xavi looks the clear favourite to take over the hot seat at Barcelona. And Xavi has no plans to keep De Jong at the club. Xavi Hernandez has massive doubts about firstly the player’s abilities and secondly how he can help take Barcelona forward.

Xvi is keen to add new attacking dimensions to the underperforming Barcelona squad. And is keeping tabs on Bayern Munich’s French forward Kingsley Coman. And Manchester City’s English forward Raheem Sterling. Raheem Sterling is keen to leave the English giants after having fallen down the pecking order at City.

Finding a new club for Luuk de Jong will be difficult. Having already featured for Sevilla and Barcelona in the La Liga season. The La Liga rules do not allow players to feature for three different clubs in one season. However Turkish side Besiktas are keeping tabs on the situation and are keen to make a move for the Dutch forward. On the other hand, it still remains a question if they can get the loan deal cancelled in the January transfer window.
