According to the SPORT, FC Barcelona are keen to sign Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot. Since then both parties already made contact regarding the transfer of Portuguese. Dalot is considered a defensive priority for Barcelona in 2023.
The Portuguese have impressed many with his form this season. He has won his place over Aron Wan Bisakka in starting 11. Hоwever, after a stuttering start at Old Trafford, Portuguese is now a regular starter for Erik Ten hag. He has made 10 appearances in all competitions and has also provided 2 assists.
Barcelona are impressed by his defensive performance and wants to strengthen their defense in 2023.
Mark Goldbridge says,
“In January he could go for free”.
Manchester United needs to address Dioago’s contract situation carefully if they want to prevent him leave for free in January.
Barcelona were linked with Dalot last summer
As per TeamTalk, Barcelona wanted to sign Dalot this summer. But instead, they went for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.
The Spanish right-back has only managed to make 2 appearances in all competitions before getting injured while training. He is expected to be out for 3-4 weeks.
Contacts have already been made with Dalot’s camp. We’ll see what happens in the next transfer window.
Dalot turned down Barcelona’s approach last summer
According to Fabrizio Romano, Dalot rejected Barcelona’s proposal to stay at Old Trafford. He seems to be happy playing for the Red devils.
He has also earned himself a regular spot in Fernando Santos Portuguese National side.
Barcelona plays in the UEFA champions league while Manchester United are trying to make it through the Europa league. This might lure Dalot towards Barcelona if Man United fail to find their spot in the next season of the Champions League.
His contract ends next summer but United has an option to extend it for 12 months.
