Bayern Munich are said to be preparing their third bid for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese international has still a year left on his contract. Moreover, he has been linked to the German powerhouses after Liverpool’s loss in the Champions League final.
Mane has also made clear his wish of leaving Anfield this summer. Additionally, Liverpool would also want to release him this season before he becomes a free agent next summer.
However, Liverpool are known to have rejected two of the previous bid that were made by the Bavarians.
First, an opening bid of £25million was turned down. Then a subsequent bid of £30m was made, which angered the Liverpool authorities as they saw the bids by Bayern as an insult.
Now, the Mirror reports that Bayern are prepared to step up their offer and make a bid of £30.3m along with £4.3 in add-ons.
Still, this is said to be falling short of Liverpool’s asking price of £42.5m. However, a potential deal could be cracked as the Merseyside club has been boosted by the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez in the forward position.
Can Nunez prove to be the perfect replacement for Sadio Mane at Liverpool?
It is thought, that Nunez is going to take the position of Mane at Liverpool, as Mane prepares to leave.
Mane over the years at Anfield has shown his versatility. He played in the central forward position as well as in the left attacking position.
Moreover, he prospered in both positions. Therefore, it would not be easy for young Nunez to fill in Mane’s shoes so easily.
Mane’s record at the Reds was scintillating. He scored 120 goals from the 269 appearances that he made for the club.
Moreover, he was instrumental in helping the club win six trophies during his playing tenure at Anfield.
