BBL 21-22: Perth Scorchers thrash Hobart Hurricanes after a Mitch Marsh Show

, Six Sports

The Bellerive Oval of Hobart saw the Perth Scorchers battling it out with the hosts Hobart Hurricanes. The Scorchers opted to bat after Ashton Turner won the toss. Kiwi opener Colin Munro departed for a duck as last year’s finalists were stuck at a shaky start. But in came Mitchell Marsh at No.3 and left the hosts stunned.

Unleashing his destructive best, Marsh hammered his way through to bring his maiden century in T20s in only 60 deliveries. Despite lack of support from the other end, Marsh proved to be too good for the Hurricanes as his blitzkrieg helped the Scorchers to put up 182-5 on the scorecard at the innings break.

The Hobart Hurricanes stumbled with the bat as well, getting themselves bundled out for a paltry score of 129-10. Debutant Tymal Mills was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a 3-for with a solid economy of 5.80. The 53 run win helped the Scorchers register a hat-trick of victories in the league.

The team is yet to be defeated and is comfortably placed at No.2 in the points table. Mitchell Marsh has deservedly adjudged the player of the match for his scintillating knock.
