BCCI announced the squad for the Sri Lanka series for ODI and T20 format on Tuesday. The biggest talking point of the announcement was the non-inclusion of Rohit and Virat in the T20 squad. The selection of Shivam Mavi was a big surprise considering the other fast bowlers in contention. Mavi earned his maiden call-up for India in T20 Internationals. Mukesh Kumar, an impressive fast bowler from Bengal also received a call-up in T20Is.
Hardik Pandya led the side in the T20s and has been named as the vice-captain of the ODI side. Rohit has returned back from the injury and will lead the side in the ODI format. Rishabh Pant was dropped from both squads and the decision was shocking. KL Rahul will miss the whole series due to his marriage. Jasprit Bumrah is probably fit but the management did not want to rush him back into the squad.
Shikhar Dhawan dropped from ODIs
Shikhar Dhawan was dropped from the ODI squad. This probably means the end of the road for one of the finest servants of Indian Cricket. The Gabbar of the Indian team had a lean patch in the last 2 years and the rise of Shubhman Gill and Ishan Kishan meant that the left-handed opener was at the end of his career.
