Benjamin Sesko is now considered as a best alternative of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak for the Gunners.
Benjamin Sesko wanted by Arsenal
The Gunners have made RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko as their top targets this summer. As per Fabrizio Romano, they are now making him a priority signing.
The manager Mikel Arteta is looking to add some firepower to his side’s front line. They are reportedly searching to boost their attacking unit after this season. And they are currently holding talks over his potential move.
Although, there was no intention from Leipzig to sell him in the January transfer window despite several rumours. But Romano claims the current situation could be very different in the summer.
The German side will let him look for other opportunities. He might explore his options in the next transfer market. Other Premier League clubs like Chelsea also seem to be interested in the striker.
Romano on Benjamin Sesko’s future
The Gunners are very keen on the Slovenia international. Fabrizio, on his YouTube channel, revealed some news regarding the forward’s future. He stated that the German side could be willing to sell him in the summer. They have been successful to keep him in the winter transfer window.
Romano said: “Very clear message internally from Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, who really wanted to keep Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig for January. And in the summer, the feeling is different.
“The understanding is that in the summer, there will be a chance for Benjamin Sesko to try something new, something different. And so Arsenal will be there for sure.
“He’s one of the top strikers in the list at Arsenal. He is also appreciated by other clubs, including Chelsea. But now Arsenal keep contacts active because they believe that Benjamin Sesko could be an absolute strong and top candidate for the striker position from the next season.
“So he’s scoring goals, he’s providing assists and Arsenal keep following the development of the player.”
In January, when the Gunners tried to make a move for the Slovenian attacker, Romano stated that it won’t be easy.
Fabrizio when speaking to GIVEMESPORT, said: “(One target) Benjamin Sesko, because they had some contacts for him in the last 10 to 15 days.
“But what I’m told is that RB Leipzig insist on their decision to keep the player at the club until the end of the season.
“So it’s not going to be easy. It will take something completely big in terms if financials to convince Leipzig in January.”
Sesko’s Bundesliga form
The striker has been playing in great form this season. He has 15 goals and four assists in 30 matches in all competition.
The 21-year-old was named as ‘incredible’ by Rising Stars XI. He has scored 6 times in his last 8 games.
Mikel Arteta’s club tried to sign a new forward in January but couldn’t. They lost Gabriel Jesus to a ACL injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the campaign. They had very quiet transfer window amid their ongoing fight for the Premier League title.
The north London club is behind the league leaders Liverpool by six points. Liverpool have a game in hand too. Their next match will be against Leicester City away on Saturday.
Author’s Opinion
With Mikel Arteta’s squad looking fight for the silverware, they need to have a reliable striker.
Kai Havertz is the only player close to being a centre-forward for the London club. He has also not been able to carry a consistent goal scoring form this campaign.
Sesko will surely be an amazing addition to the team. Let’s see if they’ll be successful to bring him to the Emirates this time.
