Legends League Cricket 2022: Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings trash Virender Sehwag-led Gujarat Giants in the 9th match of the Legends League Cricket 2022. The game took place in Cuttack. Keeping up the tradition, Sehwag won the toss and asked Irfan to bat first.

Bhilwara openers went on a rampage. Morne van Wyk and William Porterfield together registered a first-wicket partnership of 117. Bhilwara had 117 runs on board under mere 10 overs. However, both openers fell in quick succession. Skipper Irfan Pathan took charge. Pathan along with his partner, Jesal Karia, took Bhilwara to a massive score of 222.

The top 5 batters of the Bhilwara Kings stepped up at the right time for the team. Thisara Perera (1/56) and Rayad Emrit (0/46) had a bad day with the bowl. Gujarat Giants were confident of a fight back as they had a powerful batting lineup back in the hut.

The Sehwag-Gayle duo failed to deliver

The much-awaited partnership between the two of the most explosive opening batters of all time failed to deliver. Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle batted together in the middle but failed to make an impact. Sehwag looked comfortable initially but perished under pressure. Nobody in the middle order could step up, and the Giants were 5 down under 60 runs in the chase of 200+ runs.

Bhilwara bowlers showed brilliant performances on the field. Each bowler added at least 1 wicket to their tally. Sreesanth clipped 3 important wickets and finished his quota with 3/36. Jesal Karia and Fidel Edwards both clinched 2 wickets each. Whereas, Dinesh Salunkhe and Monty Panesar registered 1 wicket each to their names. The Giants were sent packing for 165 runs.

Bhilwara Kings registered a much-needed win. They previously lost a close encounter against the Manipal Tigers. They surpassed Gujarat Giants in the points table. Bhilwara Kings are second, just below India Capitals on the leaderboard. India Capitals, Bhilwara Kings, and Gujarat Giants are tied with 5 points each. The net run rate is the deciding factor for all three teams.

Both Bhilwara and Gujarat will meet again for their final league match on 30th September 2022. That game will be a must-win for both teams as the race to the final is getting fiercer with each passing day.
