Billy Gilmour An Option For Frank Lampard’s Everton?

tennis player

Billy Gilmour is the target of an Everton loan bid as Frank Lampard attempts to bolster his midfield. Lampard has worked with the Scottish international during his stint at Chelsea and is aware of his ability.

Reports state that Gilmour is not in Thomas Tuchel’s plan this season. The German has his hands full with midfield options right now, and would prefer that the youngster goes on loan. This makes a lot of sense, considering that Ngolo Kante, Jorghinio, Matteo Kovacic and now Connor Gallagher will take most of the minutes. Gilmour needs minutes on the pitch, and sitting on the bench at Chelsea will stall his development.

Gilmour had travelled to the United States for preseason with the senior team. But as he considers his options for the future, he was reassigned to the development squad. One suitor who wants to bring him to Everton is Frank Lampard, who gave the 21-year-old his first Premier League start when he was Chelsea’s manager.

The 21-year-old played only 24 times for a dismal Norwich team that was relegated without a fuss last season. However, Gilmour was one of the lone shining lights at Carrow Road. He was one of their players who could hold his head high after the season.

What Should Gilmour Do?

Billy Gilmour should look towards his fellow Cobham graduate Connor Gallagher for inspiration. Gallagher spent a season on loan to relegated West Brom in 2020/21. But he later went to Crystal Palace, where he cemented himself as one of the league’s top talents.  Perhaps Lampard might duplicate this success.

Without a doubt, Lampard should think about signing the gifted Scottsman. If the circumstances are ideal, he may be just as significant for Everton as Gallagher was for Palace. Supporters should undoubtedly be excited about that.
