Bournemouth vs Blackburn Rovers: Match Preview, team news and predicted line-ups

Bournemouth Blackburn, Six Sports

Bournemouth will host knock-off rivals Blackburn Rovers in a Championship game at Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Only 7 points separate the two sides.

The last time these two sides met, Bournemouth came out 0-2 winners at the Ewood Park. With goals from Billing and Danjuma.

After a breezy start to the season, Bournemouth have been a little off the beat in the last few weeks. They have failed to win any of their last four games and have three consecutive draws coming into this game.

Despite drawing the last game against Fulham which would be a good point in the bigger picture, The Cherries would be disappointed by their recent dip in form.

The Cherries still hold on to the 2nd spot but are being chased down by West Brom who are 3rd and just 6 points behind them. Bournemouth will want to put the past few games behind them and get back to winning ways.

Blackburn Rovers have turned a corner after their 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Fulham at Craven Cottage. Since then, Blackburn have won four of their five games and drawn once.

They have closed the gap between them and the automatic promotion spot which is currently occupied by Bournemouth to 7 points. With a win in this game, they could reduce the points gap to just 4 points.

Blackburn look like the most in-form side in the top 6 at the moment. They could pose a real threat to Bournemouth and Fulham who were running away with the top 2 spots up till game week 15.

Bournemouth vs Blackburn Rovers: Team News

Bournemouth

The Cherries injury woes continue as they will still be without Junior Stanislas Lloyd Kelly and Zemura.

It is still uncertain whether Jefferson Lerma is eligible to play this game as he is facing a suspension from his game against Coventry City.

Scott Parker will want to revert to his back 3 formation to get some stability into the side. But he will have to adapt according to the players at his disposal.

Possible Bournemouth starting line-up

Travers; Stacey, Cahill, Cook, Smith; Billing, Cook, Marcondes; Christie; Anthony, Solanke.

Blackburn Rovers

The away side could possible have senior players,  Thomas Kaminski, Daniel Ayala and Sam Gallagher back into the side and available for selection. But they will likely be without Bradley Dack and Ian Poveda.

The Blackburn manager, Tony Mowbray is expected to field the same line-up that he did in their last game against Preston North End.

Possible Blackburn Rovers starting line-up

Pears; Lenihan, Van Hecke, Wharton; Nyambe, Travis, Rothwell, Pickering; Buckley; Brereton, Khadra.

Our Prediction

Bournemouth 1-0 Blackburn Rovers

The home side have seen a dip in form of late, and Blackburn are a high flying team right now. But the Bournemouth have a great home record this season. They have lost only one of their ten home games this season. It feels like it’s about time the Cherries get back to winning ways and this game could be the one to make it happen.

It promises to be a very tight game between two very good sides. But the home team will probably nick a narrow one-goal victory to secure their promotion spot for now.
