Bruno Fernandes reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to change tactics during half-time against Atalanta in the Champions League. As Manchester United were 2-0 down at half-time.
Manchester United were completely outplayed during the first half. Goals from Mario Pasalic and Merih Demiral gave Atalanta a 2-0 lead going into half-time. Fred and Marcus Rashford did have chances to pull a goal back later on in the first half but could not capitalize.
What Bruno told Ole Solskjaer at half time?
Manchester United players were booed by the Old Trafford crowd. The Sun have reported since then that Bruno told Ole Solskjaer to change his tactics in the second half. Basically allowing him to drop and play much deeper, allowing him to receive the ball to feet more often.
It is also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo was the first to intervene. He shouted, ‘Are you not ashamed?!’ to all his teammates. Ole Solskjaer took over from there and acted as the peacemaker and told the squad that the match was still there to be won.
Manchester United started the second half much better and with a much higher tempo. They looked a completely different side from the one in the first half. Bruno’s instructions to Ole Solskjaer clearly worked as he picked up an assist for the Rashford goal. And also the cross which Edinson Cavani flicked on for Harry Maguire’s goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo once again stole the headlines as he scored yet another matchwinner. He scored a beautiful header in the 81 minute from a Luke Shaw cross. Ole Solskjaer’s United once again completed a brilliant comeback.
Manchester United now faces Liverpool at home in their next game in the Premier League. They will be hoping they can take the momentum from the Atalanta game into the Liverpool clash. And come out victorious and end their three-match winless run in the Premier League.
