Can Ronaldo end up at Napoli or Sporting Lisbon?

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The superstar wants to play Champions League football this season.

However, a number of clubs have been put off due to his wages. Ronaldo reportedly earns more than £500,000 (€585,000) a week. Moreover, there are questions about his suitability for the modern game. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid and both the Milan clubs have passed up on the opportunity to sign him.

In recent days, Mendes contacted Ronaldo’s boyhood club Sporting as well as Italian giants Napoli, with both parties appearing open to a deal.

Ronaldo Likely To Stay

Any transfer would probably include a loan. United are willing to pay a portion of the salary to allow a deal for Ronaldo. He has one more year of his contract remaining. Any agreement might still have repercussions for the rest of United’s operations. Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, has been mentioned in conversations with the Italian club as a potential Old Trafford transfer. But it is currently thought improbable for this window.

The Nigerian is one of the best strikers in the league, and Napoli will not want to lose him. With less than 24 hours to go in the window, it looks unlikely that Ronaldo will move.

In other news, Manchester United have completed the signings of Antony and Martin Dubravka on loan. If they were to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka by the deadline on Thursday, United had planned to also recruit a right back and another midfielder. However, it appears that they have now committed all of their remaining transfer funds to Antony.

After a long saga, United eventually agreed to pay Ajax’s asking price. The Brazilian winger is now flying to Manchester for a medical. He will put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
