Carabao Cup Round 3: Fixture analysis and Difficulty

The Carabao Cup third-round draw is complete and there are some interesting fixtures to look forward to. This year the EFL announced changes to the drawing format for the Carabao cup. The governing body created a two pot system to avoid fixture clashes for teams competing in European competitions.

Teams competing in Europe could not draw one another in the third round and were drawn in order to determine if they would play at home or away.

Defending champions Liverpool will lock horns against West Ham, which is expected to be an unpredictable clash. Premier League champions, Manchester City, got a favorable draw against Watford. They are set to face Barnsley at Old Trafford.

Arsenal also got away with an easy fixture as well and will play against Bolton Wanderers at home. London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham will face off Barrow and Coventry respectively.

Wycombe and AFC Wimbledon set to host Aston Villa and Newcastle United respectively, with Leicester City to visit third division side Walsall.

Wolves and Brighton will face each other which is only the third fixture to be played between Premier league sides. This game is expected to be a fiery end to end clash. Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton will face off against newly promoted Southampton.

Fixtures analysis: Premier league Top six get away with easy draws

Arsenal (H) vs Bolton Wanderers (A):
The Gunners host second division side Bolton Wanderers in a relatively easy Carabao cup fixture. Arsenal are favorites to go through the next round from this tie unless there is a surprise waiting for us.

Liverpool (H) vs West Ham (A):
The Reds have got the toughest fixture from the pot. They will face an unpredictable West Ham side who are going through a revamp. It will be an end to end clash between the two English giants. Although the Hammers are a tough side, Liverpool should go through to the next round.

Manchester City (H) vs Watford (A):
Yet another easy fixture, for the Citizens. We can expect Pep Guardiola to rotate his squad and still pull off a win comprehensively.

Chelsea (H) vs Barrow (A):
Enzo Maresca will lead his men against third division side Barrow in their Carabao cup round-3 fixture. It should be an easy fixture for Chelsea but considering their inconsistent nature, Barrow can pull of something incredible as well.

Manchester United (H) vs Barnsley (A):
Out of form and underperforming Red Devils will face second division side Barnsley. This is a great opportunity for Erik Ten Hag to relieve some of the pressure mounting on him, and also rotate his squad effectively.

Coventry City (H) vs Tottenham (A):
Another easy fixture for Ange’s men. Spurs are in brilliant form and their football quality has improved a lot from last season. It should be an easy win for Tottenham but we can see a surprise result from Coventry, as they have done many such miracles recently.

The EFL have scheduled these fixtures on 18th September, Wednesday.
Kick off time: 7:45 PM local time, 12:15 AM IST
