Manchester United have confirmed that Erik Ten Hag will continue playing his managerial role at Old Trafford. Moreover, the club are keeping a hold of their captain, Bruno Fernandes. With the entry of Man United’s new club owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with his INEOS group, the squad could undergo transition. Several changes need to be made in the team so that last season’s performance does not repeat.
Moreover, Manchester United cannot afford to miss out on a top-four spot, two seasons in a row. Therefore, Ten Hag and Sir Ratcliffe will surely try to make valuable decisions during this transfer window. As it works, the club will also have to release some players to free up money this summer. One Man United player whose future is linked with a move away from the club is Casemiro.
The former Real Madrid star could leave Old Trafford this summer
Casemiro could follow the footsteps of Raphael Varane and move away from Manchester United this summer. Varane spent three years at Old Trafford and decided that he would leave after the 2023/24 season. Gladly, the French defender’s last game ended on a high. Varane commenced his time at Man United with a win in the FA Cup finals against Manchester City.
Additionally, several reports are stating that the next player to walk out will be Casemiro. The Brazilian came to Old Trafford in 2022. Although he did play an important role in Manchester United’s squad, he hasn’t been that successful. Casemiro gained interest from many Saudi clubs last year and there is certainty that they will return for him this summer. According to reports, Al Nassr, are on a hunt for the Brazilian and could easily sign him if a deal falls into place.
Casemiro’s season was disturbed because of injury struggles
The Brazilian midfielder was present for only 25 Premier League games this season. Moreover, he managed to score only four goals and provide three assists across all competitions. Casemiro was earning more than the Manchester United captain when he came to the club. The Brazilian was getting £350k-per-week. Moreover, his contract with the Red Devils is until 2026.
If Casemiro continues his stay at Old Trafford with his declining performance, the club will face major losses for the next two years. Additionally, the midfielder did not feature in Man United’s FA Cup final win, which could lead Ten Hag to think that his squad will do well even without Casemiro. Therefore, if any Saudi club send an offer which is favorable to the club and the player, Ten Hag will instantly release him.
Manchester United could sign Fulham midfielder
Although the combination of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro in Man United’s midfield provides a great threat, the club have begun looking for midfielders who could replace the Brazilian. In case Casemiro gets a suitable offer, he could leave Old Trafford. Manchester United have begun working towards the transfer window and have several names on their list. One midfielder the club have shown interest in is Joao Palhinha. The 28-year-old was ecstatic for Fulham last season. He made 33 appearances in the Premier League. The defensive midfielder could become a key player in Man United’s squad if he continues to improve. However, the Red Devils have to compete with Bayern Munich to sign him.
