Charles Leclerc is perplexed by the way other drivers tackle their mistakes

Charles Leclerc is baffled by the way other drivers make excuses for their mistakes rather than being completely honest and accepting them.

Every human makes mistakes and no matter how much inhuman the F1 drivers might look while driving their cars, they are also humans and can make mistakes.

But the way every driver tackles and overcomes his mistake is different.

Charles Leclerc is no stranger to mistakes. He has made mistakes multiple times in his career and has faced scrutiny for the same. The latest is being at the 2022 French Grand Prix. At the race, he lost control of his car after a cruel snap of oversteer and ended in the barriers, thus ending his race.

While the Monegasque has suffered mainly due to the blunders by Ferrari this season. He finds it even more difficult when the mistakes are of his own making.

“I’m extremely tough with myself. So it is much more difficult to deal with my own errors than whenever it is the team, even though we are obviously one team and we lose and we win together,”

the Scuderia driver told the media.

How does Charles Leclerc deal with his mistakes?

Charles acknowledged the fact that looking back at his past mistakes, he deals with every mistake in the same manner. The latest unforced error at French GP was no different either.

Leclerc said:

“I’m always harsher whenever it’s me who does the mistake. And obviously France was one of those which which hurt quite a bit. Imola also a little bit, even though there weren’t many points involved because I could go back on track.”

The Monegasque spun in Monza chipping the barriers that somewhat ruined his race. He later came home to finish P6 where he could have at least scored a podium.

“But whenever I go through this tough time, I go through the same process as I was saying before, trying to analyse what was wrong. And it’s mostly mentally. You know, what is the mindset that I had at that particular moment of the race that pushed me to go over the limit and do a mistake?”

explained Charles Leclerc.

“To speak about it seems quite easy, but it is not always easy to pinpoint exactly what was going on in your head at that moment. But I think this is a strength of mine and helps me to improve as a driver every time I make a mistake,”

added the 24-year-old.

The Scuderia driver is 80 points behind the championship leader. His last 2 outings were extremely disappointing. A retirement at French GP was followed by a gutted P6 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The championship seems to be slipping from the hands of Leclerc. Let’s hope the summer break gives him the much-needed battery recharge. The Monegasque is enjoying his vacation in Italy right now.
