Chelsea faced Brentford in the latest Game Week of the Premier League. During the game, Chelsea went on to defeat Brentford 1-0. This came after a goal in the 45th minute from the returning Ben Chilwell. This result has put Chelsea on top of the League on 19points while Brentford is in the 9th position with 12 points.

Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of Watford a few hours earlier had knocked Thomas Tuchel’s side out of first place. Chelsea, on the other hand, delivered an emphatic victory against Brentford. In their first league encounter with their west London neighbours in 74 years.

Chelsea, on the other hand, had to depend on a string of excellent stops from Mendy in the dying minutes to move one point ahead of second-placed Liverpool.

Tuchel had cautioned his players not to anticipate an easy ride from Brentford at the start of a five-game run of winnable league games. Well, the Chelsea manager was proven correct.

Romelu Lukaku has not scored for Chelsea in his previous five games. While the Belgium striker misfired with Chelsea’s opening attempt of the game, curling a free-kick way wide.

Brentford almost took the lead when a set-piece caused mayhem in the Chelsea defence and Bryan Mbeumo’s shot hit the post.

Brentford Rocked The Team of Chelsea

Chelsea was not at their best as Brentford battled hard to deny them time and space.

Timo Werner shook his head in disappointment after curling inches wide from the edge of the area after Lukaku teed up the German.

Brentford had the better chances after the half. With Ivan Toney making a superb stop from goalkeeper Mendy and Mbeumo striking the post for the second time.

Mendy made two outstanding saves in the closing ten minutes of the game to deny Saman Ghoddos and Pontus Jansson.

In stoppage time, Mendy made another amazing fingertip save from Christian Norgaard’s strike to give Chelsea a crucial win.
