Chelsea are very close to announce Enzo Maresca as their new boss. Along with Manager the Blues are looking to rebuild their squad with many players set to leave. Many of the academy stars could be seen leaving London due to Chelsea’s financial situation. Selling of such players could count as pure profit which will help club to spend more in transfer window. Chelsea are now reported to be seen battling with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Eberechi Eze.
Eberechi Eze catching eyes of big clubs
Eberechi Eze currently plays for Crystal Palace. Eze began his senior career at Queen Park Rangers in 2016. His performances for the club gained attention of several clubs. In August 2020, Premier League side Crystal Palace signed Eze £17 million on a five year deal. Eze ever since has been a key player for Palace. The English international has a unique dribbling style and just glides between the defenders. Watching him play is considered as entertaining by many of the football pundits. Along with dribbling Eze also is good in front of the goal.
Eze has been regular starter for Crystal Palace. He has played 112 Premier League matches for the Eagles. In those 112 appearances, Eze has scored 26 goals along with providing 15 assists. In 2023-24 season Eze managed to score 11 goals and provide 6 assists in all competitions. His playmaking skills have gained attention from many major clubs.
Crystal Palace however don’t want to lose their star player. Eze signed contract with Palace in november 2023 which keeps him at the club until 2027. According to GiveMeSport, London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are both interested to go after Eze once the transfer window opens.
Chelsea and Tottenham to go head to head for Eze
Enzo Maresca is reported to be interested in Eze. He wants the 25 year old winger at his new club and is also reported to be backed by the club. Chelsea are looking keen to hijack Tottenham’s plan and bring the Crystal Palace superstar to Stamford bridge.
The transfer window will open very shortly. The Blues could be seen announcing Maresca as their new manager before the window opens. Once the window opens the Blues could be seen making some strong moves. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou wants to sign Eze but now is reported to be facing competition from their London Rival.
Both Maresca and Postecoglou will hope to defeat each other and make way for English winger. However Crystal Palace don’t want to sell Eze. Due to the contract signed last year by Eze which keeps him at Palace until 2027, Palace have a upper hand in negotiations. The Eagles have made it very clear that they want £60 million from any club who is willing to sign Eze.
Chelsea need filling in some other positions too. The club also has to keep the financial records in the mind before making a move in transfer window. Paying £60 million for Eze could be crucial for their next plans.
Arsenal could get jealous if Eze ends up at London
Chelsea and Tottenham could make Arsenal jealous by signing Eze. Eberechi Eze was once a Arsenal youth player before the club decided to part ways with him. Its always a great rivalry between Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs on who is the London’s biggest club. If Eze moves to any of those two London clubs manage to sign Eze, Arsenal can be seen regretting their decesion of letting Eze go away. However the Gunners are in much better place right now when compared to their London rivals. Still it could raise a little disappointment between the fans.
