Chelsea are favorites to sign Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries, according to reports.
Owner Todd Boehly has already invested a big chunk of money in summer signings and intent to make some more in the next transfer market.
A total amount of £ 241 million were invested in former boss Thomas Tuchel’s squad. Now after the sacking of the German manager, newly appointed Graham Potter will have his first transfer window in January. Todd Boehly has a plan for him, he will make sure that Potter gets what he wants in the window.
One name that comes up for signing is Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, reports claim that Chelsea are currently winning the race to sign the Dutch star who had a good tournament in Qatar World Cup.
Chelsea favorites to sign Dumfries
The Blues are ‘big favourites‘ to sign Inter’s wingback as his club gave the green light for him to leave in 2023. This claim has been made by Corriere dello Sport report which says ‘it is certain’ Dumfries ‘will leave’ Milan. Nerazzuri would prefer to sell him and have him back on loan for the rest of the season.
The reported cost of Dumfries’ potential transfer is said to be £ 40 million. It seems a reasonable fee considering his key role in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
The wingback could be Potter’s first signing and be used as an alternative to Reece James who is currently out injured.
