Chelsea are in talks with Jorginho over a new contract confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Jorginho’s current contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2023. If no extension is agreed he could leave for free in the summer.

The Italian midfielder has been playing at Stamford since 2018 and has been important for the Blues. According to Romano, Jorginho loves his life at Chelsea and would love to extend his contract. But it would depend on the financial situation. Chelsea offers much less than what he currently earns at Stamford.

Jorginho wants to increase his pay which is highly unlikely as Chelsea wants Jorginho to take a pay cut if he wants to stay. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in 30-years old has been increasing. They would like to sign him on a free transfer next year.

Jorginho can get bonuses and incentives upon joining if he leaves for free for Barcelona.

Chelsea may lose both Jorginho and Kante

Amid new contract talks with Jorginho, Chelsea may also lose N’Golo Kante for free next summer. Frenchman’s contract expires in 2023 summer, who is currently out injured for 4 months. Chelsea may not renew him as they have already found Declan Rice as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are interested in Kante and wants to replace Sergio Busquets with him. It wouldn’t be a surprise if both Jorginho and Kante end up joining Barcelona on a free transfer. Chelsea now have eyes on young stars Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.
