Chelsea have reignited their interest in signing Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, according to reports.

As per The Times, Chelsea are monitoring the Croatian Defender and is eager to make a move next season. Earlier the Blues held a discussion last summer over a move for Gvardiol with Co-owner Todd Boehly claiming his price tag of £70m was too high.

However, recent reports suggest Chelsea are again ready to chase the 21-year-old centre-back this summer. In addition, Gvardiol’s £97 million release clause get active in 2024, so Chelsea have a chance to negotiate for a lower price. The report also suggests, Gvardiol is also eager to play in the Premier league at some point in his career.

Earlier Gvardiol stated about Chelsea’s interest last summer :-

“You definitely think about a serious offer from a huge club like Chelsea.

“In the end I really struggled with that decision but we didn’t make an agreement. I am here and I am fine with this because my idea had been to stay here. One season was not enough.”

Pat Nevin termed the centre-back as “very special“. Gvardiol impressed everyone at FIFA WORLD CUP 2022, which was held in Qatar. He helped Croatia to finish third at the major tournament. Gvardiol is currently playing an exquisite brand of football for RB Leipzig in Germany.

Gvardiol can be a perfect signing for any one of the top clubs in Europe. Real Madrid are a long admirer of the Croatian Centre-back and are ready to offer £100 million in the summer.

Chelsea signed Benoit Badiashile in January and Gvardiol can become his long-term centre-back partner at Stanford Bridge.
