Chelsea are currently monitoring Lille striker Jonathan David and could land him in the summer.
According to Simon Phillips on Substack, the Blues are currently interested in the striker. Chelsea will look for a Centre-forward as Graham Potter’s side are linked with a whole lot of strikers ahead of the summer. The team is crying out for an out-and-out frontman at the attacking line.
David has been on prolific form for Lille so far this season, scoring 21 goals in just 29 appearances across all competitions. Evidently, he outscored Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who has scored 19 goals in 28 matches, this season.
Jeunes Footeux claimed last year that Chelsea were interested in David, who could cost at least £60 million. The player stayed with Lille this season, who are currently in sixth position in the Ligue 1 table.
The Striker is in great goal-scoring form this season, which is the reason for his comparison with some top names in Europe. There is a lot of excitement as well as speculation around the young forward.
David is a prolific player with great pace and holds loads of potential. But it can be a risk for Chelsea, as he is quite young to become their marquee signing this summer.
Chelsea have found it difficult to fill the void at the top. The homecoming of Romelu Lukaku has been a disaster for the Blues. Potter’s side are also interested in Napoli Frontman Victor Osimhen, who is also in mind-blowing form for the Italian Club.
