According to reports, Chelsea are the most ideal destination for Portuguese and AC Milan star Rafael Leao if he doesn’t sign a new contract.
According to GiveMeSport, the Blues are ahead in the race to sign the striker but everything depends on whether he signs a new deal or not
Leao had a good World Cup tournament for Portugal who were knocked out by Hakim Ziyech’s Morocco in the Quarterfinal. Leao scored twice in the tournament despite being used as a substitute.
Blues fans have already seen the potential of Leao in the Champions League.
Chelsea winning the race to sign Leao
Leao certainly has shown flashes of his talent against Chelsea in the Champions League. He came across Reece James and the battle between the two was worth watching. Reece James put in an impressive performance against the Portuguese winger before getting injured at San Siro.
The injury kept him out of the World Cup for England but the performance against Leao has certainly gained respect from him. The pair may end up being a teammate as Chelsea are a favorite to sign Leao.
It is currently unclear whether the 23-years old decides to extend his contract in order to stay with his current club or decides to leave.
Chelsea needs reinforcements for the attack, with Ziyech and Pulisic destined to leave Leao would be a good replacement. Not to forget Christopher Nkunku is also close to making a move to Stamford Bridge. Both of them could make an explosive attacking pair for Graham Potter.
