Ever since the summer transfer window started operating, Chelsea were so busy signing new players as well as selling some. Till now, the Blues have made 10 new signings pending more than 200M in the transfer market. Recently, the Blues signed Pedro Neto from Wolves for a transfer fee of 60M. Chelsea unveiled all their new signings in the final pre-season match against Inter Milan. Amidst everything the Blues are trying to solve the transfer mess around English international Conor Gallagher and Joao Felix.
Conor Gallagher was about to join Spanish giants Atletico Madrid from the Blues earlier this month. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid was ready to sell Samuel Omorodion to Chelsea to raise money, so they were able to buy the English international. Almost, everything was done before Samuel Omorodion refused to join the Premier League side at the very last moment of the deal. As a result of this Conor Gallagher’s deal also went to a hold-on phase.
Will Joao Felix join Chelsea this summer?
But, things have changed now for both Chelsea and Conor Gallagher. After Samuel Omorodion’s move collapsed at the very last moment, Chelsea is now linked with another Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix. And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese forward is happy to join Stamford Bridge. At the start of 2023, Felix joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid on loan and appeared 20 times across all competitions for the Blues in that season. So, Felix has the experience of Premier League football with Chelsea. That experience would be vital for the Blues if he really joins the club in this transfer window.
Felix’s move to Stamford Bridge will open the door for Conor Gallagher. After spending 75M in the Julian Alvarez deal, Atletico Madrid are trying hard to raise to transfer budget to sign the English international. The Spanish side could earn up to 60M from the Joao Felix deal and that could ultimately help them to seal the deal of Conor Gallagher. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are pushing hard for both the moves involving Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher. However, there is no sign of a swap deal and it is expected that both the players will join the respective clubs on separate deals.
Will Joao Felix’s move to Stamford Bridge really help the Blues?
Atletico Madrid released one of their midfielders, Soul on a loan spell to Sevilla, who made 48 appearances for the Spanish side in all competitions last season. So, a new high-profile midfielder like Conor Gallagher will be very useful for Atletico Madrid. On the other hand, the move of Joao Felix to Chelsea will not affect too much for them, as the Portuguese made only 20 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side in the last two seasons.
Conor Gallagher was not featured in any of the pre-season matches due to his international duty followed by holidays. And he is also out of the squad for the Premier League opening match against Manchester City.

Still no final and clear statement from the new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca about this from his recent Press conference. Even the former Leicester City manager remained silent about the move of Romelu Lukaku to Napoli and the possibility of Victor Osimhen’s joining the Blues.
