Chelsea are still chasing Napoli star Victor Osimhen

Chelsea completed ten new signings in this summer transfer window. The Blues just completed the move of Portuguese winger Pedro Neto from the Premier League side Wolves. But as things stand now, Blues have no intention of stopping in the transfer market. Since the takeover of 2022, Chelsea’s new ownership BlueCo has already spent 100B in the last three transfer markets including this transfer window. This season, the Blues have spent close to 250M in this transfer market, signing ten players. Now Chelsea wants to sign a high-profile striker and Victor Osimhen is under their radar.

Will Victor Osimhen join Chelsea?

Chelsea are previously linked with Victor Osimhen in the last two transfer window. But there was no final move for the Nigerian, as he stayed at Napoli. This season again, Chelsea are linked with Osimhen for a possible move. The Blues already signed two new strikers including Marc Guiu from Barcelona and Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa. But still, the Chelsea board are interested in signing a high-profile striker and Victor Osimhen is their top priority.

Napoli joined the Italian side Napoli in 2020. Since then, the Nigerian changed his playing style a lot and always gave his hundred percent on the pitch. In the last two seasons, Victor Osimhen scored 48 goals. So, Chelsea have been linked with Victor Osimhen for the number nine position. Nicolas Jackson had a decent season with the Blues last season under former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino. But the new boss Enzo Maresca wants a new high-profile striker. This season, the Blues are once again linked with the Nigerian.

Lukaku is facing uncertainty at Stamford Bridge

However, one Chelsea player is linked with the future of Victor Osimhen. Belgium international Romelu Lukaku is recently linked with Napoli. Lukaku spent the last two seasons on loan spells with Inter Milan and AS Roma respectively. Last season the 31-year-old scored 21 goals and registered 4 assists across all competitions. But despite his good form with AS Roma, Chelsea has no intention of keeping the Belgium International and is interested in selling him in this summer transfer window.

At the start of this season’s transfer window, Napoli appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager. Conte wants Romelu Lukaku in Napoli if Victor Osimhen leaves the club in this transfer window. Victor Osimhen was linked with French side PSG last month. But that move did not happen. Then, Chelsea joined the race to sign the Nigerian. So, if Victor Osimhen joins Chelsea this summer, Romelu Lukaku could go on the opposite side. But there is no possibility of a swap deal involving these two players. Both could join their respective teams on a separate transfer deal.

It’s not a good pre-season campaign for Chelsea. New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca managed to secure only one win in six pre-season friendlies. Chelsea conceded 13 goals in the last six matches and lost three matches within six games. However, the Blues were able to finish the pre-season on a positive note after they drew their final pre-season match against Inter Milan on their home turf at Stamford Bridge. Now, the focus is Premier League football.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are getting closer to resolving the transfer mess with Atletico Madrid, as the Blues are on the verge of signing Joao Felix from the Spanish side. This deal will determine the future of English international Conor Gallagher. Chelsea will face defending champion Manchester City in their opening match in the new Premier League season. Enzo Maresca will start his Premier League season with the Blues against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
