Chelsea set to ruin Barcelona’s transfer plans next summer with Bayern lurking

Chelsea are rivalling Barcelona for the signing of 25-year-old goalkeeper. The Blues currently have Robert Sanchez as their first team keeper. But he has been very shaky under Enzo Maresca. Meanwhile, Filip Jorgensen is not first team quality just yet. As a result, the London side are considering alternatives. As for the Blaugarana, they have issues of their own to manage. Their captain and first choice keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is out due to injury for rest of the season. In fact, they had to call back Wojciech Szczęsny out from retirement to replace him. But the Polish man cannot be a long term option for them due to his age. As a result, they want the Porto keeper in their starting XI. But Bayern are also keen on signing Diogo Costa.

Chelsea or Barcelona? Who will sign the Portuguese?

Both teams have good reasons to sign the 25-year-old. The Portuguese has proven himself on the big stages. He would win the penalty shootout against Slovenia at the UEFA Euro 2024 Round of 16 single handedly. At the same time, his performances with Porto are also very noteworthy. As a result, both Chelsea and Barcelona have taken an interest in signing the young keeper. But, in an interesting turn of events, Bayern could end up signing Diogo Costa.

What lies in the future for Diogo Costa?

As per barcauniversal, Bayern are also keen on signing the 25-year-old. Manuel Neuer is actually considering to retire at the end of the season. So the Bavarians will need a quality keeper to replace the veteran. So signing Diogo Costa will be key for them. Other than Chelsea and Barcelona, Man Utd could also choose to move for him if they are not content with Andre Onana. Nonetheless, any team will have to pay big time for the 25-year-old. He has a €75 million release clause in his contract. At the same time, Porto won’t let him go that easily. But, as it stands, Bayern are the likeliest to sign him.
