No club spent more money than Chelsea in the summer transfer window, bringing some of the best young talents around the world. The Blues also signed former Leicester City boss, Enzo Maresca, as their new manager. So, due to a huge number of signings, Enzo Maresca has a lot of options in every position in the Chelsea squad. The Blues are mostly spending money for the players who are under the age of 21. So, Maresca could use those young talents in order to develop them properly. One of the young players is Cesare Casadei, who is likely to get more playing time under Maresca as the boss confirmed already.
Cesare Casadei joined Chelsea in the 2022 summer transfer window from Italian giants, Inter Milan, on a six-year contract for a transfer fee of £15m. Before making his senior team debut with the Blues, the Italian midfielder completed two loan spells with Reading and Leicester City respectively. While with Reading he made 15 appearances, and in Leicester City, he made 25 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign and also scored 3 goals. During his time at Leicester City, he played under the then-Leicester City boss, Enzo Maresca. In August this year, the 21-year-old came back to Chelsea and made 11 appearances.
Enzo Maresca confirms that Casadei will get more playing time
Casadei was featured for the first time in this season for the Blues against Barrow in the Carabao Cup third round. The Italian midfielder started the match for Chelsea. As Maresca has lots of options in the current Chelsea squad, getting a position in the starting lineup is a very big thing. As the Blues have a huge number of games this season because of their involvement in European football, it is expected that Enzo Maresca will use Cesare Casadei more and more.
Casadei had a decent match against Barrow in the Carabao Cup and played the full 90 minutes. After the match manager Enzo Maresca praised the performance of the 21-year-old and confirmed that Cesare Casadei will get more playing time in the upcoming matches. He said,
“I think Cesare did very well in that game. He struggled in the beginning but finished well. We can see Cesare there again, no doubt. He can pass, on the ball, and understanding how he has to move can give us good things. For sure, we are going to see him again in that position.”
So, it is expected that all the Chelsea fans will see Cesare Casadei more and more in the Blue shirt. Casadei is a huge talent and is only 21 years old. He has many things to offer. He can play both offensive and defensive helping both in attacking and also in defending. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will definitely use him in the future if the 21-year-old is able to continue this form whenever he is featured. Looks like he will be less used in the Premier League rather than used in other tournaments.

Chelsea are unbeaten in the last five matches in all competitions. The Blues have scored 12 goals in the last three matches and conceded only 2. Recently Chelsea beat Brighton in the Premier League, after beating them 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. The Seagulls suffered their first loss of this season. Cesare Casadei was not involved in the squad for Chelsea for that match. Star player Cole Palmer scored all four goals for the Blues against Brighton.
Now, the Blues will focus on European football, as they will take on Belgian side Gent in the UEFA Conference League. After the match against Gent, the Blues will continue their Premier League journey against Nottingham Forest. Chelsea are currently at the fourth spot in the Premier League with 13 points in six matches.
