According to the Chelsea Chronicle, Premier club Chelsea concerned by the injury of their star boy, Cole Palmer. Chelsea started their Premier League season with inconsistent performances and have also suffered multiple injuries. The Blues have a very slight improvement in their strategies from last year despite, appointing a new manager and signing multiple players. The latest name in Chelsea’s injury list is English midfielder, Cole Palmer. The contribution of the English youngster was massive last season. Palmer was the top scorer for Chelsea last season, with 22 goals and 11 assists in the league. It is safe to say that the Blues can be in big trouble without their star player.
The Blues have played three matches in the Premier League so far. They lost their match against Manchester City but left that behind with a huge win against Wolves. However, the problems seem to persist, with a 1-1 draw their latest match against Crystal Palace.
Chelsea also lost their right-back Malo Gusto to an injury in the Palace game. Argentine midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, also received a minor injury on the jaw and was seen being treated after the match. Cole Palmer played for the full 90 minutes against Palace. However, the English midfielder got injured during the international break with the Three Lions. Palmer, as a result, withdrew from the England squad.
A new look in the Chelsea formation
The injury problems continue for Chelsea and the fans can see a completely new lineup for their next match against Bournemouth. Robert Sanchez will most likely be the first-choice goalkeeper for the Blues. Sanchez has been a reliable presence for the Blues between the sticks and has full faith of manager, Enzo Maresca, and the rest of his staff. However, fans can see some major changes in the defense line. The biggest problem for Enzo Maresca is to address the right-back position.
In the absence of Malo Gusto and Reece James, Axel Disasi can be seen starting in the right-back position. However, the manager decided to play Wesley Fofana in the right-back position against Palace after Gusto’s injury, with Enzo Fernandez joining the defense line.
The centre-back partnership is expected to be the same, of Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill. Marc Cucurella will most likely be in the left-back position. Chelsea fans might not be very confident with this new defense line, however, in such a situation, the manager has no other choice.
Fans also expect to see Jadon Sancho’s debut
Fans are excited to see the new Chelsea attack this season. Noni Madueke has become a fan favorite at the moment, after scoring a hat-trick against Wolves. Moreover, Chelsea’s new signing, Pedro Neto, is also finding his rhythm in his new life at Chelsea. However, fans are excited and expecting the debut of their new signing, Jadon Sancho.
After joining the Blues from Manchester United this summer, Sancho is yet to feature in any of the games. The English winger has started training with the squad and is in contention to feature in the next game.
Enzo Maresca’s tactical flexibility will be tested against Bournemouth. The Chelsea manager is yet to show any tactical prowess, when compared to other new managers this season. After missing out on signing a big striker this summer, Enzo Maresca has to choose between Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku for the no.9 position.
Chelsea also have the option to play Joao Felix, after signing the youngster again this summer. The Blues have a tight schedule ahead, with UEFA Conference League and Premier League matches. Enzo Maresca expects to have a fully fit team for the upcoming challenges. However, the club will have to rely on their squad depth till then.
