According to reports, a swap deal involving Chelsea‘s Timo Werner and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is being discussed.

The Polish Striker has been one of the best strikers in the world in the last decade. Lewandowski has been a sensation since signing for Bayern Munich and at 33 he is still putting out top performances every week. While the forward received the inaugural Striker of the Year award at Monday night’s France Football award ceremony in Paris.

The Polish goal machine has scored 25 goals in just 20 appearances in all competitions, this season. (stats via Transfermarkt) But the forward has just 19 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena. According to reports, Lewandowski is open to trying a new challenge. Robert Lewandowski was linked with Chelsea over the summer but Chelsea opted to sign Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku instead.

While Timo Werner has struggled since his move to Stamford Bridge. The German just like Lewandowski made his name in the Bundesliga. But ever since his move to the Premier League, he has struggled to show his full potential and has lost form and confidence.

Journalist Ian McGarry talking about the Timo Werner and Robert Lewandowskiswap deal told Transfer Window Podcast :

“It is certainly the case that Pini Zahavi has offered Lewandowski to Chelsea and Marina Granovskaia.

“A move which could include Werner going to Bayern. The prospect for [Thomas] Tuchel and Werner is appealing and is being discussed.”

A good deal for both parties?

Despite signing Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee this summer, Chelsea are looking for another star striker to add to their ranks. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to bring in another star forward next summer to partner Romelu Lukau upfront.

Bayern Munich are reported to be a long-term admirer of Timo Werner. The German forward has also struggled for game time this term. Despite his limited game time, Werner has averaged 1.6 shots, 0.6 dribbles, and 0.3 key passes per game in the Premier League. He also has a pass completion rate of 75.3% in the opposition half in the English top division. A move away from the Europan champions will certainly help Timo Werner regain his confidence and find some much-needed consistency. Despite his horrid time, he has still managed to put in a few eye-catching performances. Werner would add pace, agility, and the ability to make runs in behind the defense to Bayern’s forward play.

While Robert Lewandowski has shown time and time again why he is one of the best strikers of all time. He would certainly be a good strike partner to Romelu Lukaku. Conte brought the best out of Lukaku at Inter Milan by playing him alongside Lautaro Martínez. Thomas Tuchel will be certainly hoping for the same by signing Lewandowski and bringing bring the best out of Lukaku at Chelsea.
