Chelsea Crisis: Mykhailo Mudryk’s Struggles Raise Questions for Pochettino

Some of the signings made by Chelsea have failed to leave an impact on the field since arriving at the club. One of them is Mykhailo Mudryk, who has scored just three goal since joining the club in January 2023. Consequently, the fingers are now also pointing towards Mauricio Pochettino for the failure of Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian came in as a substitute against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final but failed to leave an impression. He has been in and out of Pochettino’s side this season, making nine starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Is Pochettino unable to get the best out of Mykhailo Mudryk?

The Argentine manager is under heavy criticism for not getting the results even after a billion spent on the incoming players. Speaking on talkSPORT, Adrian Durham blames the manager for failing to get the best out of his man. He said,

“Mudryk was Ukrainian Player of the Year two years ago. He was sensational at Shakhtar Donetsk. That’s why he was bought. I’d ask why Pochettino isn’t getting the best out of him.

Could Pochettino learn some lessons in management, man-management, managing a club and coaching, from Jurgen Klopp? It looked to me yesterday [Sunday] like he lacked ideas, Pochettino, he looked like he was unfamiliar with the qualities of the players at his disposal.”

The winger was starting to show grit and passion after scoring against Fulham, Arsenal and Crystal Palace. However, after the goal against Palace in December, the winger has been on the bench after that for long. The wide man has not actually started a league game since then. Ultimately, like last season, where Mudryk failed to score a single goal for Chelsea, this campaign has been quite a disappointing one. There are even talks of loaning him out to somewhere at the start of summer transfer market.
