Chelsea want 25-year-old Porto man in first-team player but Bayern might interfere

Chelsea are keen to make a move for 25-year-old Diogo Costa. They have been admirers of the goalkeeper from a long time. Although they were unable to sign him. But now they are considering to finally move for the young man. Especially since Robert Sanchez has delivered some very shaky performances under Enzo Maresca. As a result, the Blues eye the Porto man as a replacement. The 25-year-old has managed to impress everyone with his goal saving skills. He is also a regular for Portugal now. Top teams are keen to sign him. So the Blues will have to move swiftly if they wish to bring him on-board.

Is Diogo Costa right for Chelsea?

The 25-year-old has proven himself on the big stages. Portugal were facing Slovenia in the UEFA Euro 2024. He would single-handedly win the quarter final game with his penalty heroics. At the same time, he has been very consistent with Porto. Chelsea have had good luck with some world-class keepers in the past. Players like Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech were a part of the team in the good old days. Diogo Costa could reach those levels if he continues to grow. The Blues will have to pay somewhere around €70 million to sign him.

Bayern have plans of their own

As per caughtoffside, legendary Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is considering to retire at the end of the season. Replacing him is not going to be an easy job. But Bayern consider Diogo Costa as the ideal replacement. So they will be giving Chelsea and any other team a really tough fight for the Portuguese. We could see a bidding war emerge for the 25-year-old next season. He is still young and probably with at least a decade of his career remaining. He will be a good addition to any top team.
