Chelsea director has issued statement on job security of Enzo Maresca amid poor form.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is safe from sacking
The Blues director Jonathan Goldstein has admitted to the public that the current manager will see out the season. He said that the coach will 100 percent continue for this campaign. He says that his team’s boss is safe from firing. This comes after growing worries on the Blues boss.
The Italian tactician is facing criticism after his team’s poor form. They only have three wins in their last eleven Premier League matches.
The west London side has been dropped down to sixth in the Premier League table. They are also knocked out of the FA Cup competition.
Speaking to BloombergTV, Goldstein expressed his thoughts on the Blues performances. He said: “He (Maresca) is doing a great job. Chelsea have started the season very well.
“The last six weeks (they) have been finding their feet a little bit more. But Enzo has clearly done a great job in bringing the team together. Bringing the talent through and we’re very optimistic for the rest of the season, and how that plays out.”
When asked about the manager staying for the rest of the season, He said: “100 percent.”Las
The west London club hired the Italian in June. He was brought in after former coach Mauricio Pochettino left the side. Enzo’s squad lost to 2-0 in his fist game in charge against Manchester City. In his first 10 games at Chelsea, they had eight wins, one loss and one draw.
The Blues then had 11 wins, 2 losses and 3 draws over their next 15 games. In their last 10 matches they have 3 wins, 5 losses and two draws. They are currently on a two game losing streak. Currently they are sixth and are out of contention for the Champions League spot.
Enzo Maresca on Chelsea vs Brighton: “The worst performance”
Last Friday saw Brighton beat Chelsea 3-0 in the Premier League. Maresca said that this was their worst performance since he was hired last summer. They will be back in action in the Premier League on away trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.
After the Brighton game, boss Enzo said: โProbably since I arrived that is the worst performance, especially in the moment we are in.
โWe are fourth in the league and winning tonight you can go one point from third and make the gap to the rest bigger.
โThe performance is not one you want to offer, so we are very upset. And especially very sorry for the fans who were here, and in general to our fans. Because in this moment you cannot offer this kind of performance with 14 games to go. And now 13 games to go. In terms of desire, we need to show more.โ
Former Blues’ boss Hoddle told Maresca to ‘cut the noise’
Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle has asked Enzo Maresca to cut out the noise and keep trust with a regular playing eleven. He says with a same regular line-up the club can recover their form.
Speaking to The Athletic, Hoddle said: “As a manager, you have to cut out that negative noise from the outside.
โYou just have to stay focused on what your beliefs are. If you start doubting what you are doing, you are history, you are gone.
โMaresca will be hearing it (the criticism), but looking at him as a character, he can ignore it. Being a former player helps you cope with that, it teaches you to have no self-doubt. But when things are not going great, that is when you really do your job.โ
Author’s Opinion
The west London side is currently trying to get back on track. They’re finding back their rhythm. They’re now sitting at sixth place and will be looking to finish in the top four. The Stamford Bridge club will not be willing to lose on the Champions League spot this time for the next season.
