Chelsea eyeing Christopher Nkunku swoop

Chelsea is reportedly targeting RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku to boost their midfield options. Chelsea preparing to rival Real Madrid and Manchester City for the signature of RB Leipzig attacker.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel coached the 23-year-old, who can also play as a winger, at Paris St Germain. Thomas Tuchel, who is said to be keen to reunite with his former player at Stamford Bridge. But the European champions face stiff competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The Frenchman has been with the Bundesliga outfit since 2019, and he has taken his game to the next level this term with regular goal contributions. Enjoying a stellar start to the new season with the Bundesliga side, registering nine goals and three assists in 10 games across all competitions. The Frenchman can play anywhere across the attack or midfield, but he has excelled in the number 10 role.

And his progress has caught the eye of some of Europe’s elite clubs. Real Madrid is said to be very interested in the player. Nkunku’s agent Pini Zahavi believes that it will be the right time for his client to take a new step in his career. Firstly, Nkunku shares the same agent as David Alaba in Pini Zahavi. Secondly, Los Blancos have a good working relationship with him.

Similar to Madrid, City is always searching for quality reinforcements. Pep Guardiola has been vocal about the prospect of Bernardo Silva leaving the club. Nkunku could come in as a replacement for the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, the Blues may have the edge over the duo because of Tuchel, who handed him the majority of his 78 appearances at Les Parisiens. Under Tuchel, Nkunku primarily played in midfield. But he could now have a more progressive role with the London club still in need of improvement.

It is reported that Nkunku’s representatives have already ‘spoken’ with each of the three mentioned clubs regarding a potential move in the 2022 summer transfer window.
