Chelsea fans Protest: A Message, But the Club Stays the Course

And outside Stamford Bridge it was anything but quiet on Tuesday night. Chelsea fans vent their displeasure at their club’s owners, and back then, they expressed themselves in no uncertain terms. Signs told Todd Boehly & Co. exactly what supporters didn’t appreciate about the leadership, chanting was heard, and banners waved. Firey, unfiltered, as blue both in colour and shade of its language, the protest was fiery.

One sign was especially blunt: “We’re not Arsenal—win or f**k off!” because it seems that the fans are not into mid-table mediocrity. What followed was another banner, which asked nicely that I was ‘destroying our club.’ (As the Brits say: “You’re destroying our club.”)

Why are Chelsea fans angry? -£1 Billion Spent, But Where Are the Trophies?

Chelsea’s new owners have spent over £1 billion on signings since coming in 2022 but all this money has just resulted in more issues than cups. Despite a costly squad, things on the pitch have been poor and the fans have had enough. But the club’s hierarchy, however, are convinced they will rehabilitate Chelsea’s former glory by their methods.

Next season they are focused on Champions League qualification and sure that that will be a turning point. However, with the state of play at present some of the supporters might feel that a turning point is required just to make the top half of the table.

Player Celebrations Adding Fuel to the Chealsea fans’ rage

It isn’t just the owners who are the targets of the frustration. Pedro Neto and Levi Colwill made a gesture behind them in the middle of the game, cupping their ears, what didn’t please spectators. You can’t antagonize the crowd when you are under fire? Just a thought.

Another particularly creative protester waved fake money in front of a Boehly cartoon of him as a businessman. There were calls for the return of the Roman Abramovich era when success wasn’t just expected — it was demanded.
