Chelsea just few months away from signing Osimhen?

Chelsea are still hopeful of acquiring Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window. He was the “most wanted” striker this summer, as the Blues were desperate to sign him. However, the deal never materialised because of his massive wage demands.

Galatasaray instead signed the striker, on a loan deal, without an option to buy. The 25 year-old agreed to join the Turkish giants as he was at risk of not playing competitive football at least until January.

Osimhen’s childhood hero and idol, Didier Droga, also played for the Lions, which is also a major reason for Osimhen to join the club.

Chelsea and Arsenal will get another opportunity sign the 25-year old in January. His release clause has been decreased to £63.2m by Napoli.

Osimhen’s agent managed to include a smart clause in this loan deal. It will allow him to exit early from Istanbul if the Blues or any other club make a move for him in January.

The 25-year old striker is keen on following his idol’s footsteps and play at the Stamford bridge. However, relations between the Blues’ and the player have turned sour after the latter rejected the club for offering low wages.

There is also an option for Osimhen to extend his contract at Napoli until 2027, if he does not secure a permanent exit from the club next summer.

Former Blue, John Obi Mikel, slammed the rumours of Osimhen rejecting Chelsea because of high wages. He says;

I mean, a lot happened, and I think it’s an open secret that I was involved in the deal.”

He wasn’t asking for all that bulls*** [£500,000 per-week]. I know what happened. I was there, in the midst of everything. So I can tell everybody that that is definitely not true.”

John Obi Mikel reveals top secrets behind Osimhen deal

Former Chelsea legend, John Obi Mikel, has revealed the secrets of the Osimhen deal. Mikel has provided insights into why the deal fell through in the final stages.

Speaking to The Obi One Podcast, he revealed that both the club and the player’s party agreed to compromise on the striker’s salary. However, it was left too late and there was no time to finalize the deal.

Reports from top journalists suggested that Osimhen rejected Chelsea because of the club offering him lower wages. Obi Mikel has debunked these rumours in his latest podcast. He says;

I know what Victor Osimhen wanted, I know what Chelsea offered him, I know where we got to. We finally got to a compromise; both sides had to compromise.”

“Both sides had to compromise. It was just some little things here and there—paperwork, medical, and a few issues we just couldn’t get over the line, and we didn’t have much time.”

Obi Mikel has reassured the Chelsea fans that the club will try to sign him again in the January window. The player deeply regrets not joining his dream club this summer.
