Chelsea are reportedly in contract negotiations with their main key midfielder of their team, N’Golo Kante.

The 30-year-old has been a vital player for the Blues since arriving from Leicester City in 2016. He has 221 appearances for the club, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The French midfielder’s deal with the London giants is about to end in June 2023. Kante will be free to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January 2022.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are ‘working on a new deal’ for the France international, who is currently on the sidelines with an ankle complaint.

Will Kante be able to leave an impact in the Premier League for Chelsea?

The Chelsea’s midfielder has already been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa. But Kante can return to the field against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League next week.

Chelsea are also currently in talks with German defender Antonio Rudiger. But they are seemingly finding it difficult to come to an agreement over a fresh contract.

The club are very happy with Kante and want to reward the loyalty that he has exhibited through the years. With the midfielder choosing to stay at Chelsea last summer. Despite significant interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Regarding the contract, the Blues have traditionally restricted themselves to handing out one- or in rare occasions, two-year contracts to veterans over the age of 30. In the case of Kanté, it would not be a surprise if we decide to make an exception to this rule.

Kanté himself has spoken of his desire to continue on the blue side of London right after our Champions League win, and there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t hold on to the twins for many more years.
