According to reports, Chelsea are keen to sign AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in the next few transfer windows. Reports also suggest that Chelsea “are very much in touch” with the French midfielder over a move to Stamford Bridge.
Aurelien Tchouameni joined AC Monaco in January 2020 and since the move, he has been instrumental in Monaco’s midfield. He has made 73 appearances for the French club in all competitions and has recorded five goals and four assists in this time. This season alone he has made 27 appearances in all competitions already and recorded two goals. ( stats via Transfermarkt)
His rise in the French league has seen him break into the French national team. N’Golo Kante’s injury issues this season have seen Aurelien forming a brilliant partnership with Paul Pogba in the heart of midfield for France. He also started in the UEFA Nations League Final win over Spain and played a massive role as France lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy.
The 21-year-old midfielder’s form and rise into the France national setup have not gone unnoticed. Following the impressive displays this season, Tchouameni’s talent is no longer a hidden secret. Alongside Chelsea, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City, all are scouting the midfielder.
English journalist Matt Law talking with the London is Blue Podcast about the Aurelien Tchouameni to Chelsea transfer said:
“It feels like it’s heading in that direction,”
“Chelsea are very much in touch with, and I think there’s a good relationship between Chelsea and Kounde’s agent from everything that went on in the summer.
“There was certainly no blame attached to Kounde’s agent that the deal ended up heading south, it was all put on Sevilla’s changing the goalposts. I know Kounde’s agent was annoyed with Sevilla.
“It feels like he would be the sort of cheaper option than Declan Rice. Whether that makes him option A, let’s see. But I certainly think, at the moment, there’s a direction of travel that is quite positive in terms of Chelsea and Tchouameni.”
Is Aurelien Tchouameni the perfect midfeild option for Chelsea
Chelsea already have one world-class French midfielder in their squad, N’Golo Kante. But his recent injury and fitness issues have raised eyebrows among Chelsea supporters. Aurelien Tchouameni has already done a brilliant job in filling the gap left by N’Golo Kante in the French midfield and can do the same for Chelsea.
With Jorginho 29 and Kante 30, Aurelien Tchouameni can be the perfect long term replacement for the midfield duo. Chelsea are also planning to cut short Saul’s loan move from Atletico Madrid in January. Following which Aurelien Tchouameni can be a great option for the present and future of the Chelsea squad.
