Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out a potential move from Chelsea to secure the signing of 18-years old midfielder Romeo Lavia from Southampton.

Romano has told Give Me Sport that the blues haven’t held talks regarding the signing of 18-years old.

Speaking to GMS, he said:

“I’m curious to see if they will return for Romeo Lavia or not because, honestly, the reality now is that there are no negotiations. There are no talks between Southampton and Chelsea for Romeo Lavia.”

Chelsea have been linked with a few midfielders

The Blues have been linked with a few midfielders in recent months, Romeo Lavia is one of them. Chelsea have been looking to replace Jorginho and N’Golo Kante who are expected to leave the club next summer. Chelsea wants to secure their midfield for upcoming seasons. Jorginho and Kante are one of the most important players in Chelsea’s midfield. They will be hard to replace if Chelsea do not agree on extending their contract.

Lavia would have been a good investment for the Blues. They have already been linked with Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice. Todd Boehly personally admires Jude Bellingham and wants to bring him to Stamford next season.

The blues desperately need a central midfielder and a defensive midfielder. They only have Mateo Kovacic as the reliable performer, Ruben Loftus Cheek is another option with Cono Gallagher but both are inconsistent.

Todd Boehly currently have the resources to secure some midfielders’ signing. If they want to compete in the Champions League next season, it would be necessary to get some reinforcements for next season.
