According to Football Italia, another big transfer saga this summer might be coming to an end. Chelsea have made their final decision regarding Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen. The transfer talks between the two clubs have now taken a very unexpected turn. Napoli manager, Antonio Conté has wanted to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku after working with the Belgian striker in the past. Conte managed to win the Serie A title with Inter Milan, and Lukaku was a key part of the squad. Due to these factors, Napoli were ready to offer a swap deal to Chelsea involving Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku.

This looked like a perfect deal for both the clubs. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has already told Romelu Lukaku about his plans for this season. The Belgian striker is currently not a part of Chelsea’s plans for the season. Victor Osimhen is also trying to leave Napoli after the club made an offensive tiktok post on the forward a few months ago. However, the swap deal for the two forwards is not as easy as everyone thinks. According to Chelsea, the deals of Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku are both separate deals. Moreover, the Napoli striker does not want to leave on a loan deal.

Transfer saga for Victor Osimhen might be over

Napoli’s interest in signing Romelu Lukaku has always been quite strong. Chelsea were asking for a €43 million price for the Belgian striker. Finally a deal was agreed between both the clubs, as reported by Fabrizio Romano 2 days ago.

On the other hand, the Victor Osimhen deal looks unlikely after the striker denied to reduce his wages. Chelsea are still not in a position to sign the Nigerian striker by paying the full transfer fee. Chelsea’s deal for Samu Omorodion also collapsed, as an alternative of which they signed Joao Felix again from Atletico Madrid, this time on a permanent deal. Despite the new signings, Chelsea’s first-choice striker still appears to be Nicolas Jackson. However, the talks with Napoli for Osimhen’s loan are still going on, as the end of the transfer window is near.

Chelsea have already signed more than enough players this summer transfer window. The Blues already have a squad of around 45 players this summer. It is becoming difficult for the new Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, to integrate so many players into his tactics for this season. The current situation at the Chelsea training ground is also heating up. It is reported that Enzo Maresca is currently training with only twenty players. The remaining players are told to practice separately and are not allowed to train with the first team.

Summary of Chelsea’s transfer window this summer

Chelsea were the standout performer of the summer transfer window. The club was constantly trending for all types of drama during the transfer window. It all started when Chelsea decided to sack Mauricio Pochettino before the new season started. Things started to heat up when Blues tried selling Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid. This transfer saga took a very long time and made many fans sad. Gallagher was a homegrown talent and the fans absolutely loved him. He was one of Chelsea’s top performers last season but still could not compete for a place in the squad. After Conor Gallagher was finally sold, some expected Chelsea to make a big signing in the midfield to fill the void left by Gallagher’s transfer.

However, surprisingly, Chelsea ended up signing more attackers instead of focusing on areas that needed improvement. Since last season, Blues have been in desperate need of a striker and a goalkeeper. Nicolas Jackson, despite his underwhelming performance last season, will still be their first choice striker for this season as well. The first choice goalkeeper is expected to be Robert Sanchez, who started in the opening game as well, despite the signing of Filip Jorgensen this summer.

The future of players like Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell is coming to an end with Chelsea, as Enzo Maresca clarified his plans for both the experienced players. This has caused many Chelsea fans to call out Maresca for his treatment of the senior players of the squad. On top of that, after Chelsea lost their opening match of the season against Manchester City, fans have become furious with the manager. This will be a very long and tough season for Chelsea.
