Chelsea manager sets strict penalty taking order

Enzo Maresca has set a strict penalty taking order at Chelsea this season. The previous managers at the club did not have a set order for penalties. The players and the club captain decided the penalty taker on the pitch. Last season plenty of comical drama took place because of penalties which brought criticism to the dressing room’s unity.

It is very rare to see such drama take place in a club of such high standards. Winger Noni Madueke tried to take the ball off hat-trick hero and designated penalty-taker Cole Palmer, prompting Nicolas Jackson to act upon his rush of blood and storm over to join in the scuffle between teammates against Everton. Chelsea’s dressing room is a complete circus!

Ex Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says;

“I am so, so upset about the situation, discipline is the most important thing in our team. We all agree they [Jackson and Madueke] were wrong. They are not experienced players. They are young.”

Similar issue cropped up during Chelsea’s pre season game against Club America. The Blues were awarded a penalty and Madueke was adamant about taking it. Although he scored the goal, the manager was furious and set up a strict penalty taking order with Cole Palmer being the main penalty taker to prevent such hot mess from happening in the future.

Ipswich Town in talks to sign Cobham graduate

According to reports by East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Town are eyeing a move for Armando Broja. Chelsea are keen on selling the Cobham grad for profit. The potential move would be a loan with an option to buy. The Blues want to gain atleast £30m in exchange for the 22-year-old striker. The striker has scored 8 goals in 57 Premier League appearances thus far in his budding career.

Ipswich signed Liam Delap from Manchester City  earlier this summer in a £15m deal as they look to improve their attack. The club is playing in the top division after a long wait of two decades.

Broja has also been linked with Everton, VFB Stuttgart, Wolves and AC Milan in the past. The Albanian has 4 years left on his contract and is currently training away from the first team. Chelsea will wait till the last minute of the deadline and will try to strike a deal for the young lad. Broja has suffered major injuries recently that has put his suitors on hold.

The player feels that a move elsewhere would be best for his career as well. The Blues have a lot of strikers and he will not be able to improve his game here at Stamford Bridge. His agents are also talking with other clubs to strike a deal for him.

‘Cold Palmer’ signs new deal at Chelsea

The hero of Chelsea last season, Cole Palmer has signed a new contract with the Blues. He has signed a contract extending his stay until 2033. The Englishman had one of the best debut seasons for a club. He scored 25 goals and won Premier league’s young player of the season.

The youngster’s performance saw him getting selected in England’s squad for the Euros. He scored a sensational goal against Spain in the final but luck favoured Spain. He has been nicknamed ‘Cold Palmer’ because of his ability to rescue Chelsea from trouble and hit cold celebrations. The player is delighted to sign a new contract with the Blues. He says;

“I’m delighted to sign this new deal, I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.”

Palmer scored decisive goals against the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Tottenham. His sensational last minute strike against Man United earned him lots of admiration from the fans. The forward is excited to start the new season and continue his brilliant form.

Chelsea play against Manchester City in their Premier league opener on Sunday, 18th August.
