Graham Potter will hold talks with Romelu Lukaku about his Chelsea future
Manager Graham Potter will hold talks with the player in the next summer window. Lukaku is currently on a season-long loan with Inter Milan. It is worth noting that the deal has no obligation to buy clause in it. Romelu Lukaku might return to play for Chelsea after all. Lukaku re-signed for Chelsea in 2021 and had a tough campaign for the Blues. This was the reason he signed for Inter Milan on loan where he has played some good football. This report is according to ESPN which states that Potter will sit down and have a talk with Lukaku about a probable return to Stamford Bridge. He arrived at Chelsea for a record fee of €115m. After a fairytale first few months, Lukaku lost all his spark. The primary reason for this was his injuries and Covid. He was disappointed with his game time at Chelsea which was a source of discontentment between hm and Thomas Tuchel. The infamous Sky Sports Italia only made things worse between Lukaku and Chelsea. In his first season with the Blues, Lukaku scored only eight goals in the 2 matches he played. The tensions between the player and manager was so bad that Lukaku made it a priority to return to Inter Milan in the pre-season.
But now, Thomas Tuchel has been sacked and Graham Potter is the new manager of Chelsea. The new manager is open to discussing the situation with Lukaku if he wants to. Moreover, considering the financial difficulties faced by Inter Currently, it looks unlikely they can afford the price set by Chelsea for Lukaku.
