He was disappointed with his game time at Chelsea which was a source of discontentment between hm and Thomas Tuchel. The infamous Sky Sports Italia only made things worse between Lukaku and Chelsea. In his first season with the Blues, Lukaku scored only eight goals in the 2 matches he played. The tensions between the player and manager was so bad that Lukaku made it a priority to return to Inter Milan in the pre-season.
